The Long Sonata of the Dead

This short story evolved unexpectedly into a sort of postscript to the Roth Trilogy, though it’s completely self-contained in its own terms.

It’s a story about a fatal rivalry in love and literature, set mainly among the one million books (and more) of the London Library. It also gives a glimpse of the continuing legacy of Rev Francis Youlgreave.

The print edition is available from the Mysterious Bookshop, New York City. There are two editions - a
paperback for normal mortals and a de-luxe collectors’ edition for superhumans.

In the UK, House of Zeus have published it as an ebook - click here for Kindle edition.

It is also included in the anthology Death Sentences: Stories of Deathly Books, Murderous Booksellers and Lethal Literature , edited by Otto Penzler and introduced by Ian Rankin.
